May be a kids book but....

If you are into gold prospecting this is a great story book. Yes it's a childrens book but it takes you back to the times of the gold rush

This is a great book that all ages will love. A girl gets transported to another time with only a riddle to help get herself out. It teaches history and also tells a story.

Great time travel adventure/mystery!

Riddle in the Mountain is a fast-paced, fun story which combines mystery and fantasy with the Old West and a bit of Cornish mining folklore. Whether you like mystery, fantasy, or your tastes run towards historical fiction, there's something here for everyone. The Old West mining town is vividly drawn, and the characters are interesting. There's a few surprises along the way which add to the fun. A pleasure to read! An appendix at the end contains historical notes on Colorado history, the Cornish in America, and mining folklore. Riddle in the Mountain would tie in well with curriculum units on the history of the Old West in general and Colorado history specifically. It also touches on aspects of immigration in America and Cornish folklore.

Riddle is a great adventure

The Riddle in the Mountain is a great adventure. It calls to mind adventures I would dream up as a kid, lots of mystery and excitement. I love the fact that the protagonist is a girl, brave, smart and resourceful. I also enjoyed going back in time to a real place, with real historical people as characters. She did a great job of researching her material. It's fun and easy to read.
