Engaging farm stories of the last century and so relevant today.

I remember being fascinated by the farmers in my family and particularly by the ones who lived on the "nearly" rural road that I grew up on in a small town in Nebraska. So I was connected to, and always remembered a short story called "My Ninety Acres" that I read about 50 years ago in a "Recent Literature" class. I just never forgot about that story. In fact, I have often thought about that story over the years and from time to time wondered where that story came from. It always reminded me of some of those wonderful old farmers that I grew up knowing. Recently, my daughter reminded me of that story. And I found "My Ninety Acres" in this collection of some of Louis Bromfield's work in "Return to Pleasant Valley". The story was even better than I remembered. Not only that, I found several other wonderful stories which had been out of print and which is surprising, given that Louis Bromfield was a well known Pulitzer Prize author some 50 or 60 years ago. It is a treasure that's reappeared. I heartily recommend this book. I give it 4 stars
