In 1689 New Hampshire, young sweethearts Richard Dudley and Sarah Minton are separated when a raid on their town leads to Sarah's capture by Indians. In the years since, Richard has spent every day wondering what happened to his lost love. Five years later, Sarah returns home, part of a party of ransomed Indian captives. Eager to return home, she is greeted by the tragic news that none of her family survived. That Richard survived gives her comfort, but have their years apart changed themselves and their relationship irreparably, or can they find a way to be together again, despite the changes in their lives and the opposition of some townsfolk? As a big fan of books set in the Colonial period, I truly enjoyed this historical romance. I loved the setting and the theme of a young couple given a second chance at love. I highly recommend this book to other readers who enjoy romances with the unusual Colonial America setting.
