U.S. Army Air Force Lieutenant Donovan Davis and seven friends, whom he considered brothers, were sent to England in the Winter of 1943-44 to prepare for the D-Day invasion of Europe. His P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft was shot down near Carentan, France on June 6. He was rescued by French Partisan fighters. Among these valiant French freedom fighters was a 19-year-old woman, Margaret Inghouf. She subsequently saved his life, when Davis was seriously wounded in the multi-day battle for Carentan. Their love, whose seeds were sown in war-torn France in 1944, bloomed into a full flowered romance 40 years later. Their story is one of dedication, determination and to find final mental freedom from the World War and find the true love both Donovan and Margaret needed in their Golden Years.
