The essayists are some of today's most renown nature and political writers, and the content and flow of the pieces are very readable, very accessible. The general public will derive great benefit from this work, but so, too, will decision-makers and opinion leaders find it useful. In convincing manner, for instance, the supporting research would indicate that the Department of Interior or, more specifically, the Bureau of Land Management, must do much better in carrying out its legal responsibility to protect its public holdings as wilderness. The public is keenly interest in seeing it do so.
