Usually the sequel to anything is not as good as the original. The audience - or in the case of a book, the reader - is disappointed. I am not disappointed at all - I am left wanting even more of these characters. I found "Return of the Warrior" a VERY enjoyable read! I hope to see much more of this author's work in the future.
Hard Hitting, gritty, nicely well wrought tale.

When Dylan returned home with Lura by her side, she received a hero's welcome. But there is a problem, Dylan is now having nightmares, and no wonder considering the reason. The anxiety felt by both Dylan and Lura is tangible and the desperation driven behavior of both of them are from the demon fighting both endure. This sequel to Desert Hawk by Katherine E. Standell will at times have the hairs on the back of your neck begin to stand on ends. Will Dylan be able to fight off her demons and return to Lura, who not only is struggling to keep from being tossed into a social wedding by her society minded mother, but must deal with feelings of abandonment by Dylan. Will they get together? Will they be able to overcome the demons that face them both? Will they have a life together? Well, you will just have to read this tale for yourself to find out. Standell adroitness for the human situation and her descriptive narrative draw the reader right into the story. This writer has an understanding of the obsessive mien many do not possess. Standell's characters, and the interwoven personal issues are inventive and well thought out. Standell then placing them in the story settings we can all understand and believe. Discerning readers who do enjoy a well wrought tale filled with a bit of social message, nicely crafted settings and characters, vibrant dialogue at times hard hitting and gritty and a strong woman who does win in the end will find the book to their taste. Various editing issues in this story, kept it from being a five star story, but those set aside, you will certainly enjoy with well written sequel.
