The term retrospective is dealing with the past events or the childhood time of an individual. Haile Gerima's films are the core subject matter of this specific study. Hence, some of these movies have been taken as a source of data analysis and interpretation. That is why; Gerima's Cinematic Narratives are inspected critically through Retrospective experience and Resistance manifestations as a major conceptual framework of the data analysis to depict the conception of originality. The elements of the movie like; culture, folklore, religion, traditional games, stories, riddles and socio-political phenomena will be evaluated critically. The source of the data is Teza Amharic movie, which is dealing with the military government, the life of ethiopian students in europe and the advent the EPRDF as a freedom fighter and the problem they created on society.Eventually, the data will be analyzed through the concepts of Retrospective experience and Resistance manifestations narrated in the movies. The examination of the data leads to reflect the originality of the cinematic narratives of the filmmaker. Thus, the entire analysis and interpretations depict the originality of these art works.
