This book describes in detail, a new technique of laparascopic surgery, called Gaur's balloon technique of retroperitoneal laparacopy, also known as retroperitoneoscopy. The technique was discovered and developed by the author, while working at the Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences and is now widely accepted and used all over the world. The book is written in two parts, the first deals with the basics and the second deals with the applications of the technique procedures on the organs situated at the back of the abdomen(the retroperitoneal organs). Major operations often require for extraction of larger kidney stones, for removal of diseased retroperitoneal organs like the kidneys and the adrenals or for plastic repair of the urinary tract to cure urinary obstruction or female urinary inconstinence can now be performed using this new minimally invasive technique. This is an important breakthrough in the field of laparascopy, as earlier the laparascopic surgeons had to take a devious and potentially risky route to approach to retroperitoneal organs.
