Rookie Sheriff Zack Taylor receives a phone call in the middle of the night. A mother and father are dead - murdered in their bedroom at their remote farmhouse. Their little girl escapes but is too traumatized to talk. Zack struggles to identify a suspect or a uncover motive. Feeling unqualified and overwhelmed, he questions why he ever took the job. The victims were African-American. A swastika painted in their blood on the bedroom wall attracts the attention of the FBI. Shortly after Special Agent Tina Simpson arrives in town to investigate, she finds herself in a shootout with two masked killers attempting to finish the job by kidnapping the girl. Agent Simpson takes a shotgun blast to the leg but still manages to get off a shot that hits one of the killers before they escape with the girl. When the wounded suspect turns up dead, Sheriff Taylor finally has a lead that helps him identify the killers. However, Zack has no idea that when the evidence finally uncovers the motive, his worst nightmare is about to come true. He is tested to his limits as he battles ghosts from his past and attempts to save a child from an unimaginable fate-before it is too late.
