Bowls, chopsticks, toaster, food wrap... all disappeared in the blink of an eye. The apartment did not have many high-end appliances, but the kitchenware was very complete and useful. Each item was like a comrade in my cooking. From the money I saved from my monthly part-time job, I saved up to buy each item. After so much time, my hands became familiar with them, and yet. ... I threw open each cabinet door and checked. There were only traces of the things that had been there, and no matter how hard I searched, I could only see hands waving in the air. The jar of pickled apricots that I had meticulously cleaned with my grandmother a few years ago had also evaporated. Even the ingredients for the cream korokke * made from couscous * and chickpeas that I had been looking forward to eating with my vegetarian boyfriend tonight were gone.
