Double letters mean double fun for puzzle mavens, who will sharpen their pencils and their wits to solve these clever sudoku variations. Conceived by the man who has been creating sudoku longer than anyone alive, they dispense with one of the standard rules of the game: no repeats. Instead, these brainteasers include at least one letter that occurs two times in every row, column, and diagonal. That makes it harder to eliminate possibilities and complete the grid. And there's more: in every spread, the phrases in the two sudoku are related. So, one might have "breakfast," while the other has "cold pizza"; "dentistry" and "candy bars"; and "eyestrain" and "nude beach."
Like the review above, I found that the ratings of the puzzles quite often did not really correspond to the difficulty. Right off the bat I was finding the 1-star puzzles REALLY HARD, and I would say I am an above-average regular Sudoku solver. Some puzzles I just plain had to give up. But then surprisingly there were some 3- and 4-star puzzles that didn't seem that hard. There is definitely a "trick" to it, but I'll leave that up to you to discover. I'd recommend this book if you're looking for a challenge and tired of the same old Sudoku. I'd also be first in line if edition #2 ever comes out.
Where is book number two?

This book is a twist on Sudoku using letters and one letter is repeated! I found the puzzles to be challenging and enjoyable. Now that I have gotten good at it I would love to have a second book. The puzzles are rated from easy to hard but I found that often the ratings didn't seem to correspond to the difficulty level. Great fun!
