Battles rage as the epic science fantasy adventure saga continues. The maritime ubarate of Cos and her allies are mounting an attack on Ar on two fronts--from the South with a major invasion force and in the North with an expeditionary force besieging Ar's Station, Ar's base of power in the vast arable basin of Gor's mightiest river, the Vosk. Dietrich of Tarnburg, a mercenary, has seized Torcodino, with its stores of military supplies, to temporarily halt the march of Cos on Ar in order to buy Ar time to organize for her defense. Cabot has delivered letters from Dietrich to the regent of Ar, apprising him of the situation at Torcodino. Tarl escapes his imprisonment and ponders whether he should then flee Ar's Station, making his way to freedom through its miseries and desolations, its ruins and flames, or shall he remain, to defend her weakened, betrayed, starving defenders, those who had been his very captors? Rediscover this brilliantly imagined world where men are masters and women live to serve their every desire. Renegades of Gor is the 23rd book in the Gorean Saga, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.
As the bloody tide of war spread over Gor, Tarl Cabot, outcast by the Priest-Kings, became deeply enmeshed in the military combat between the empire of Ar and the invaders from Cos. His fate would depend upon which proved victorious in the coming confrontation at Ar's besieged river port. And it looked like Tarl himself might prove the deciding factor that would tip the scales of destiny for one side or the other... With Renegades of Gor, all the complexity and intrigue of John Norman's saga comes together to create an adventure replete with danger, excitement, and romance in the unforgettable realm of Gor---where courage remains meaningful, and pride and honor have never been forgotten.
Tarl Cabot - Renegade

In the midst of some wordy Norman novels comes "Rengades of Gor". Action from start to satisfying finish. Our hero very much himself and doing things the way he does them because he IS Tarl Cabot. All of this set amidst the seige of Ars Station, with Norman providing the the well researched details his books have been known for. Personally, I rank this one right up there with Nomads, Raiders, and Explorers. Set among a long winded series ... Renegades is a return to the glory days.
