Rendezvous: A Screaming Eagle is Born

By: Sally, Mustang

A young woman navigates the challenges of military life, breaking barriers in a prejudicial male-dominated Army, while confronting personal demons and striving for excellence in a diverse and dynamic environment.

Mustang Sally stands at a crucial juncture in her military career as a platoon sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). In a peacetime military, success hinges on mission readiness and the ability to lead soldiers through rigorous combat readiness. As a Combat Support Military Policewoman, Mustang Sally faces the daunting task of proving her worth in a division known for its demanding standards and predominantly male leadership.

With a past marked by emotional turmoil, Mustang Sally grapples with her vulnerabilities while striving for professional recognition. Her relationship with Infantryman Galahad serves as both a source of strength and a reminder of her struggles. As Galahad's military career wanes, Mustang Sally must confront the reality of her choices and her determination "not to fail". The looming presence of St. Jude, a figure from her past, complicates her journey, forcing her to confront the emotional barriers she has built around her heart.

As she endeavors to earn her place among the elite "Screaming Eagles," Mustang Sally comes to realize that the difficulties of the past are what have prepared her the opportunity to serve her nation in the 101st Airborne Division; that her life has been waiting for her in the Air Assault Division. The exhilarating atmosphere of the 101st Airborne Division ignites her determination to excel, pushing her to redefine her limits. This story captures Mustang Sally's transformation as she navigates the complexities of military life, the pursuit of excellence, and the quest for personal fulfillment. It is a powerful narrative of resilience, sacrifice, and the relentless pursuit of dreams in the face of adversity.
