This book explores the impact of remuneration practices on staff motivation at Soci t Nationale des Chemins de fer du Congo (SNCC) in Lubumbashi, a public enterprise that is both strategic and facing numerous structural challenges in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Through employees' perceptions, the book analyzes the current remuneration system (salaries, bonuses, benefits) according to three fundamental criteria: fairness, transparency and relevance. It is based on the major theoretical approaches to motivation: Herzberg, Adams and Vroom, while taking into account the specific realities of Congolese state-owned companies. This book reveals a vicious circle in which demotivation, fed by these dysfunctions, considerably weakens overall performance.
