I keep my head down.
The streets of New Eden City hum with the low drone of en-
forcers patrolling the skyline, their sleek black drones scanning
every face, every movement. My coat is pulled tight, my breath
steady. I've learned how to move through the crowd without
drawing attention. How to be invisible.
A chime echoes through the air-sharp, commanding. The
crowd around me stops moving as the holo-screens flicker to
life on every building. The emblem of the Dominion-a silver
circle with a black sun at its center-rotates on the screens.
Then, the Supreme Chancellor's voice fills the city.
"Citizens of New Eden, today is a reminder of our loyalty. A
reminder of the price of rebellion."
I clench my fists. I don't want to look. I already know what's
about to happen.
In the center of the square, a man kneels. His clothes are torn,
his face bloodied, but his eyes-his eyes burn with something.
