Three months have passed since Kevin Trent Stryker and Caitlin Amelia Magnon defeated the conqueror, and since then they have lived together in Rikleifer, enjoying the time they have to explore their new relationship. Their friends Arthur Falchor and Rachel Reinhart have not had the same experience, having been given the responsibility to lead and restore the new Solunar Empire. When a new threat emerges in General Sayo, a former Desolunar general who escaped at the Battle of Seta Archa, Arthur calls Kevin and Caitlin to his capital city for help. Having to return to Aurana for a government registration, Caitlin heads back home while Kevin promises not to pursue Sayo without her. Seeing an injustice, however, makes Kevin decide to go it alone.

A trap is sprung, leading to Kevin being captured and Caitlin being attacked by Sayo's new master. Now questioning everything she thought she knew about Kevin, she must endure unspeakable tragedies and do all she can if she is to rescue the one she loves.
