Remembering the Armed Struggle: Life in Baader- Meinhof

On 21 October 1971 Margrit Schiller was arrested and imprisoned by the German government first for two years and then for another five, for a murder she did not commit. This book is Margrit's own story of political radicalisation in the 1960s, her integration into the German urban guerrilla group (Baader Meinhof) before her arrest, the terror of solitary confinement and the mysterious deaths of four of her colleagues in prison.
This is one of the must read books concerning the Baader Meinhof years and the RAF. Not only does it give you a fascinating insight into the reasoning behind one of its members but it deals in depth with one person's suffering in solitary and the effects this had on her. If you are thinking of buying this I would recommend you read Stefan Aust's The Baader Meinhof Complex first. The two go really well together. I don't think you would get the full story just by reading Margrit Schiller's story on its own. This might prove a bit expensive but they complement each other well and will keep you reading if this subject interests you.
