One of the best!

I loved this book. It has quickly become one of my favorites. My only complaint is that it was too short. I finished it in just a few hours.

LOVED IT!

This book is about two soulmates who have met up over the ages. It starts you off with the Stone Age and the you are taken to Egypt and so on. The story does not spend an entire chapter on one sectione, for example there are letters about going to visit South America and so on. Some times it becomes confusing because you have to adapt to a new name and setting for each chapter but there are key elements that inform you of who the characters are (ex. limps, addictions, fears, etc.). You also need to be aware that some letters or side notes are about other characters in the story. I know it may all seem confusing now but once you read it you won't regret it. The story is captivating and romantic. It also contains historical information throughout, which is one of my favorite types of fiction. The characters are unique. I would recommend this book for 7th grade and up. I do not have an limit on what age it may not appeal to because I know I still read books from the independent reader section. :) If you like this book you may also like the book The Soulmate by L. G. Smith which is in the series Nightworld but you do not have to read the series to understand the book.

A WONDERFULLY UNIQUE STORY

My thirteen-year-old daughter got me to read this book. Loved this story. Once you've started, you can't stop flipping the pages to see what happened next. It was wonderfully written and a unique story. This is my first reincarnation novel and though I was leery I was quickly captivated. I loved all the similarities throughout the book, just enough to tie in the characters from one era to the next. Loved the section on Jesus, thought that was ingenious. The author did a great job at creating realistic characters and pulling you into their story. Each era was a story in itself, yet wonderfully connected.

Reincarnation

I am interested in the subject of reincarnation, but at first I wasn't sure I would like a book geared toward younger readers about some people's love life that spans through multiple liftimes. I was pleasantly surprised. Despite what it says on the cover, "Reincarnation" isn't just a romance. It really covers the scope of issues related to the philosophy of reincarnation by following the lives of two people from pre-history to today. It addresses issues such as different cultural and religious beliefs in different lives, how expectations about life after death affect the actual experience, time between physical lives, fears and phobias that carry over, birth marks and physical attributes, talents and interests, and common relationships. In one lifetime the characters' genders were reversed, and they were often different races from one life to another. Past life memories arose from dreams, spontaneous recall, and eventually hypnotic regression. The book was a little heavy-handed on the connections between lives, to a point where the current life was too overshadowed by past issues. But considering the topic, I'm not sure what other emphasis I would have expected. I also felt the ending physical validations for the characters' past lives were a little too convenient. Still, I've never read a work of fiction this detailed in the level of research the author put in to make it a believable account of the lifespan of a group of souls traveling through many lifetimes and growing together spiritually.

My new favorite book

I am blown away by this book. I don't think there's anything out there like it. The premise is intriguing and it works on so many levels. Sure, it's a romance but it's also a moving story about four people and how they evolve in their character through many lifetimes. It also encompasses issues of human dignity and takes you on a fascinating ride through history. It's a page-turner, too.I couldn't put it down. Go get it!

Beautiful.

What an amazing, beautiful, romantic, tragic, thought provoking and unforgettable book this is. I have absolutely fallen in love with it. It begins in prehistory when a battle scarred Neanderthal man meets a desperate Cro-Magnon woman at the mouh of a cave, high on a cliff. Each is at a pivotal moment in his or her life and about to make a decision that will impact the future more than they are even capable of imagining. This meeting is brief and violent, but it is also the work of fate. They have no idea, but it was their desitny. They begin their journey in a struggle over a green jewel that ends in tragedy. Together they join the Wheel of Rebirth, but they are not even remotely finished with each other. We follow these two soul mates through time and place in an epic adventure as they try, over and over, to get it right. They meet again in Ancient Egypt, Greece, Paris and the United States, taking with them reminders from each past life they have shared together. But they are not alone in this quest. There are other souls that travel with them who also must resolve their issues and discover the right path to take. The green jewel follows them as well, taking on new and deeper meanings each time. When you look beyond the magical romance that transcends time, it is also a chronicle of human and civil rights through the ages. If these souls want to be together for all eternity, they will have to overcome incredible odds and fight to change the views of society.
