The regional economic integration is one of the most exciting subject in economics. The module recognises the need for contemporary issues in development economics. It successfully incorporates modern topics and integrates them with case studies peculiar to countries' stages of economic development. Whilst not avoiding a rigorous mathematical treatment where necessary, the module takes an intuitive approach to the more interesting topics of regional economic integration. The result is an accessible undergraduate module providing a motivating, relevant and understandable introduction to regional economic integration. In a sense, this course seeks to explore the orthodox and heterodox paradigms within development economics, paying attention to policies economies are adopting in enhancing regional economic integration. The course aims at providing students with knowledge and critical skills in evaluating economic development theories and policies. The units of the module aims to foster students' ability to assess critically the major policy debates, domestic and global and, to evaluate the empirical evidence with respect to these issues in developing countries.
