Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Program Manual for HVACR Technicians, 5th Edition, is an ideal study guide to help technicians become prepared to take the EPA Exam to certify for Type I (small appliance), Type II (high pressure and very high pressure), Type III (low pressure) or Universal (Type I, II, and III). This edition includes 40 sample test questions, a glossary of terms, as well as examples of forms for documenting refrigerant use, refrigerant incident reports and accidental venting. (164 pages). It is well organized into 5 sections: o Fundamentals, Core Section o Type 1 Certification o Type 2 Certification o Type 3 Certification o Appendices:History of Refrigerants; Sample Test Questions and Answers; Related Forms, Logs, and Reports; Glossary. Important terms are in bold print and placed inside boxes to further emphasize their importance. Large simplified diagrams of the basic refrigeration cycle, with arrows showing refrigerant flow, clarify the refrigerant liquid/vapor phase cycle and help you to understand the state of the refrigerant in various components. There is a section on the accessories covered by the EPA exam with diagrams that show their position in the system, and where and how to recover refrigerant from the system. Section 2 does an excellent job of covering refrigerant chemistry and history with good explanations of Superheat and Sub-cooling calculations, as well as giving good coverage of Blends and Fractionation. With this manual, the hard work of gathering and organizing the information required to pass the EPA exam has been done for you.
