Reed All About It!: Daily News from the Good News

Years ago, on the street corners in major cities across America, young boys held high newspapers shouting, "Extra! Extra! Read All About It!" That shout would be followed by a vigorous announcement of the day's major events. The night Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, angels appeared to shepherds keeping watch over their sheep. "Do not be afraid," one angel said, "for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people" (Luke 2:10, NASB, emphasis mine). The Bible is filled with events and stories that appeal to people of all ages, telling the world of this "extra good news" that the Savior has been born.Thirty-one years ago, I began a weekly article for our local newspaper called, "REED ALL ABOUT IT!" In these articles I have used a combination of scriptures, illustrations, and humor to tell the good news of Christ and how it applies to our everyday life. Many have encouraged me to put these articles in print, thus the reason for this collection. It is my prayer that these daily devotionals will be both interesting and inspirational. It has been my goal to give a verse of scripture to meditate on each day, a story or illustration that applies this "extra good news" to daily living, and, of course, the humor to put a smile on your face and joy in your heart.
