Zambia has abundant natural resources which include water, minerals, wildlife and good soil. The unsustainable utilization of natural resources for industrial development coupled with the lack of proper effective environmental policies, is now putting pressure on the resources and thus creating negative impacts. The present industrial policy does not adequately take into account the serious environmental consequences of rapid industrialization which is likely to continue in the future.
