Indigenous Short Story Play. Shay ignored the coyote crossing their path and Redhouse warnings. Shay did not follow indigenous teachings and guidelines for allowing a loved one to pass onto the next world. Shay mourned for too long and used sacred wood to create a puppet that looks like their niece/nephew. Because Shay would not let Redhouse leave this world. Redhouse's spirit was caught in our world trapped in the puppet Shay made. Using sacred spider web thread, that is made with the same material from the piano he made the strings for the puppet to be attached. Spiderwoman's string allows the piano to control speech and movement for anyone attached to the sacred spider strings. All Characters Are nonbinary Shay RedHouse: Uncle/Auntie killed Alex Redhouse while drinking and driving Alex RedHouse: Nephew/niece was killed by uncle in a drunk driving accident. Coyote/trickster: Coyote is the one who told Shay about the sacred Spiderwoman thread and wood for the piano. Coyote must help fix his mess and be the Deity that Coyote is. Coyote is in the audience disguised as a "human" but cannot hide his tail and ears. Coyote Tries to help Shay confront his lies and understand the importance of death and letting go. Coyote will ask questions during Shays show to "awaken the puppet" and help Redhouse transition to the next world by confronting Shay and cutting his own strings to move on. Coyote will always be a step ahead and make sure things do not go back on him. Since he was the Coyote that was supposed to cross Shay and Redhouse path the night Redhouse died in the car accident. Coyote was supposed to warn them and Shay Ignored the warning when Coyote crossed their path. Shay also ignored when Redhouse reminded Shay if you see a coyote, you are to lay down an offering and turn around on your journey. Something bad lies ahead on this path if you continue. Shay and the Puppet do not know coyote is at their Show tonight.
