Vaughn Adams spent more time at my house when we were teens than he did at his own. He was another son to my dad, another brother to my siblings.

But to me, he was the one who saw me. He was the one who came for me. And he was the one who saved me.

But when I finally got the courage to tell him how I felt, he couldn't risk all he was working for. And then he left, chasing his dream of being in the NFL, leaving me with a broken heart and a future that no longer included him.
