Dan Coltrane finds himself in pursuit of a young African scammer who has taken million of dollars from elderly Australian retirees. He follows him to Egypt in order to find the brains behind this money-making scheme, but instead uncovers a much bigger business concern. An Australian professor of vaccines, Dr Jason Winslow is involved in making millions of dollars from world governments who will pay anything to procure large quantities of the life-saving snake venom. Coltrane is involved in dismantling the illicit business dealings of those who would take money and run rather than provide the product required. He sees the corruption that is rife in the Western world and decides to reside in China with people who he deems to be honest and trustworthy, much to the chagrin of the Australian government, ASIO, and INTERPOL.
