Clear-eyed observation, and clear-headed thinking

An illuminating examination of the intricacies of Soviet thought on armored warfare, through its roots in the writings of Trianfilandov and Tukhachevskii through the post-World War II writings of Marshals Badbazhanyan and Losik, and General Radzievskii. It also treats Soviet operational art and tactics, as well as the history of Soviet tank development, and how the designers of Soviet tanks accepted constraints on armor and firepower to maximize the key characteristic of the Soviet mobile force concept - the operational mobility of the tank force. Throughout are amusing and insightful comments and observations from Brigadier Simpkin's own distinguished career in the British Army.
