home-grown surrealism

Hard to do. Never read anything like it. Totally original. Wonder if the author got within a million miles of Cuba, but that doesn't bother me, not at all. It certainly does have a black lab in it, but a female dog that becomes a luscious adolescent Cuban girl? With all the moral problems of whether to keep the girl or get Kali to transform her back into a dog?? I actually believe this book will become a classic--if anyone else ever reads it.

the best story about a dog I've ever read

Jezabel goes through more adventures than any other dog I've ever read about. She becomes an advertisement on a billboard. She becomes a hostage of the Cat Women of The Moon, and she turns into a Cuban girl. I have a black lab myself and I hugged my dog especially hard after I read this amazing book.
