The latest offering from the Time Team is Recreating the Past by Victor Ambrus and Mick Aston (Tempus £12.99)or around $18 Dollars. Victor Ambrus is the Team artist who has just three days to produce a reconstruction drawing of the site being investigated. He always works in pencil, with large eraser at hand to change the drawings as the work proceeds. Here we have 150 of his fine drawings, mostly in pencil, though some worked up in colour. Mick Aston puts them all into context, with a text running chronologically by period from the Palaeolithic to the present day, putting the reconstructions into their archaeological context, while throughout Victor adds his own comments and recollections as to how the drawings were made. For all enthusiasts of Time Team (Channel 4 Television UK), this will be a must-have book which will bring back memories of the more than seventy sites that have been excavated in the seven years the programme has been running.
