Courage

This book reminds me of a famous movie line "You make me want to be a better man". This book will make you want to be a better nurse and a better citizen. Nursing is everything it is cracked up to be and more and this book captures all of it, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Buy two copies, keep one for yourself and share the other one. After reading your copy they will buy their own, I would bet on it.

Pay it forward

This book should be titled "Pay it Forward". The effect that the nurses in these stories have on their patients and families is sure to inspire good deeds in all of us. I highly recommend you "Pay it Forward" by buying this amazing book and CD and giving it to a health care professional that has touched your life in a positive way.

Storytelling As A Nurse Retention Strategy

This book, and the companion journal and DC, are excellent tools that contribute to the process of personal renewal, which is an overlooked but necessary component of a "nurse retention" strategy. Kristin Baird recounts compelling stories that beautifully describe the reasons many nurses are drawn to and fulfilled by the profession. She asks insightful questions to guide personal introspection and the (re)discovery of purpose and meaning in the demanding work of caring for and about patients. Great storytelling

This book is a great collection of stories from and by nurses. It is a great way of providing a solid message with the hassle of a lecture. Some stories I found very touching while others really reinforced the professional side. Some were just plain humorous. Great way to take a step back and remember why a career in healthcare is so wonderful and challenging.

This is a fabulous book! I have read it cover to cover (several times) as has my husband, parents, and daughter. They too were very impressed by the sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes funny, and true life encounters that Ms. Baird so eloquently wrote about of stories submitted by numerous nurses'. It is a MUST read by nurses and anyone else who is interested in the real 'Passion' and 'Essence of Nursing'. You will not be disappointed.
