Contrary to the title their are no recipes in this book. Like the oyster "Where change is sown, pearls are grown". Doreen experienced many challenges in her life and was able to overcome them by giving and receiving love from her family, friends and nature. The challenges are the irritations to the oyster and overcoming them are the pearls. The book is equisitely written with an intermix of engaging poetry and prose. Her love of English is evident from her majoring in the language, teaching it to underprivileged students and to writing this book. Full of misfortune and love's ability to overcome it, the book is a real page turner.
