Gone with the Wind, Move Over....

Rebel Dove has all the makings of an instant classic hit. The details of the history, landscape, events, and characters are so well defined that it isn't difficult to imagine that these were real people, enduring real, life-altering challenges--and doing their best to muddle through, like we all do. It reminds me of Gone with the Wind, but the storyline is so different, so thoroughly unique... that fans of that epic saga would instantly love this one without feeling like they've been played. Anyone who is a Civil War buff, or student of the Underground Railroad would probably love it too. I've read the Doves Collect book as well, the next in the series, and the continuing story is also really well done. I can see the whole Dove's Collect series being a fantastic mini-series, "Roots" style. It would translate so well to the screen. I'm looking forward to the other books and will read them as soon as I can.

Rebel Dove

Again Mis. Daly has been able to intertain me. I realy enjoyed the fact that there was so much history in with a great story. Just to think back to that time that most of the story was true. I am looking forwad to reading other books from this great writer. Thanks for letting my mind wonder back in time. Marilyn Laidlaw

Rebel Dove, an exciting saga of historical romantic fiction

Rebel Dove, the best Southern historical romance It's a time of bloodshed and upheaval in America. A shameful split between the North and South gives the reader an insight into the lives of Southerners, who lost loved ones and their way of life. Elise, a feisty, if somewhat spoiled Southern Belle, decides to spy on the Northern soldiers. With more zeal than planning, she nearly gets killed and inadvertantly causes the the death of many that she loves. Her life-long friend, Miranda, runs an Underground Railroad, helping slaves escape North. Elise never expects to fall in love with the Yankee soldier, Joshua as she spies upon him. When the war ends, Joshua is sent to another post, leaving Elise and Miranda, their families and faithful slaves--most freed by them--to struggle in a devastated South. The book delves into the loves, lusts and murders by people trying to survive--all vestiges of their former lives forever altered. Daly, through this intense saga, makes the reader yearn for the next book in the Dove's Collect Series. Mallie Woodham, author and journalist
