Reasons and Impact of Roman Crisis of the Third Century Including Its End with Diocletian Reforms

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online.

The Crisis of the Third Century, also known as "Military Anarchy" or "Imperial Crisis" (235-284 AD), was a period in which the Roman Empire nearly collapsed under the combined pressures of barbaric invasion, civil war, plague, and economic depression. The Crisis began with the assassination of Emperor Alexander Severus at the hands of his own troops. By 258-260, the Empire split into three competing states: the Gallic Empire, the Palmyrene Empire, and the Italian-centred and independent Roman Empire, proper, between them. The book studies the reasons and economic impact of this dire situation, till the crisis finally ended with ascension and reforms of Diocletian.

Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge.
