Eyewitness accounts of witnesses to the Detroit Riots of 1967. During the 1967 riot, the Algiers Motel Incident took place where three young black men were shot to death by members of the Detroit Police Department without probable cause at the motel on Woodward Avenue. The police destroyed two black culture establishments on the westside of Detroit located on Dexter Avenue roughly within the same distance. The riots continued for five days and altered the history of a major American city for decades to come.
