The author and illustrator of this work enjoys playing catch with his dog Skylar in Memphis, Tennessee. Writing this picture book is my way of giving back to young people who find it difficult to draw. It is intended to enable kids to become proficient at sharing their ideas with art. As a young person, it was easy for me to win an art contest. I always wanted to take out the confusion in drawing, as it has always been a lifelong effort of mine. I would watch my high school relatives struggle to draw biology lessons, and I would help them finish these drawings. I wanted my relatives to have the ability to draw better than the stick people they usually drew.
I also wanted to demonstrate that perfection is not required, like the melon-headed characters shown in this book. This book is about an older brother with art skills who is willing to instruct his siblings in basic art. Illustrating and writing a kids' book on how to communicate through pictures may help preschoolers use other ways to get their messages across to other people.
