Franz S. Mandarich, a retired ordained minister, missionary and teacher, taught an adult Sunday School class on the Book of Revelation during the last few years of his life. Even 20 years after his death, people from that class were still asking his widow for a pamphlet or even just reprinted notes from those class sessions. While they had found his teaching highly useful in understanding a difficult book, copies of the handouts he had distributed were only the merest foundation of his actual in-class teaching. This book is the result of his widow's request to their nephew to turn those notes into a readable and useful text. Reading Revelation is not intended to be a commentary on the last book in the Bible. Rather, it's purpose is to inivite readers to join in conversation over that text. Readers will find in these pages no dogmatic assertions, but rather an opportunity to consider how to understand John's description of the purpose and goal of the human journey. What any reader might take away from these conversations depends upon that reader's interactions with the conversants.
