Jodi was sixteen when she went for History tutoring lessons with Vince, a fired up black man who exposed her to struggles bedeviling black people. Needless to say Jodi was white. Jodi and Vince both lived in Rhodesia, where racial dynamics were a strong factor and the land was divided in two, the glorious white side and darkish black side. Jodi grew up completely isolated from the black community and was unaware of the racial tensions until her older sister committed suicide. In an attempt to cope with her sister's death, Jodi finds solace in Vince, where an alliance and friendship is born. She also embarks on a journey to understand more about religion but soon realises the complexities that come with it.
