Raymond's Run

This book tells me that if there is something that I to do then keep on doing it. Squeaky was very protective of her older brother. After she gave up her favorite thing to do to make her brother into a runner it told me that she cared about him and wanted him to have something to show off (a first place ribbon).

This book is wonderful for any age!

I personally think the main character is a fine example of a well-mannered individual with exception of age. This gives you a great outlook on life after you read it.

This book has a strong message for all young people.

This short story is so well written that as I read it I believed that Squeaky was talking to me. Everything she said sounded like a 12-year-old would say it. I could also believe that it could have really happened that Squeaky, a black girl from Harlem, could be a fast runner with a disabled brother who decided to teach her brother how to be a fine runner. Toni Cade Bambera used aggressive and compassionate tones to help the reader realize the change in Squeaky from the bossy beginning to the soft and calm ending. All of this helped the reader to understand that if you try you can succeed.
