The orphaned daughter of a pirate, Rory Mullins has survived in the rough world of the colonial Caribbean disguised as a boy. Then Nathan Lawler comes into her life, searching for her dead father's treasure. He discovers that Rory is really a girl, and forces her to help him find the treasure. During the search for the treasure Rory finds herself falling in love with Nathan, and he with her. However, an evil pirate is also determined to find the treasure and will stop at nothing to claim it. This book was on the short side for an adult historical romance (around 250 pages) and so the characters were not as developed as in longer books. However, the romance was enjoyable enough, and the action subplot was well-done as well. I'd recommend this book to readers who like this setting and are looking for a quick, enjoyable read.
