Rats (Double bill): Sewer rat and Gnaw

The pink rat looked at the sleeping man and paused, and sniffed at the air once more. Finally it gave a signal, and the mass of fur moved towards the man. The furry carpet engulfed the sleeping man who had no idea what was happening to him. He thought it was a nightmare until the sharp razor like teeth started to puncture his flesh. He tried to scream, but one rat bit into his tongue, and his own blood gagged him as it poured down his throat. Paddy's last thoughts in his confused and terrified mind were that of his wife and his old life, and what a waste he had made of himself. He also thanked god through the pain that racked his wasted body. The rats had their feed on the man's body, and then dragged pieces of the man over to the waiting pink rat. The pink rat accepted the meal, and ate while the other rats watched. Then the pink rat moved off to the drain, and looked back at its army, and then it was gone back into the dark drain, the other rats followed.The last rat sniffed the air and looked around the car park there was still no sign of life, and the mist had grown thicker now. The last rat disappeared down the drain hole leaving the cover by the side. Later a man would put the drain cover back wondering how the hell it had been taken off.
