All documents yielding information about Rathdrum that were once in the Kootenai County courthouse are cited and discussed in this book. The period is from the "organization" of Kootenai County (1881) to the fire that decimated Rathdrum in 1924 with mention of pertinent factors that led to the choice of Rathdrum as county seat. Stories and pictures from the area donated by a number of older residents were woven Into this web of facts. And historical myths were evaluated from the results. The author has been a resident of Rathdrum for 40 years and has a number of graduate degrees. Personality tests indicate the author is conscientious, analytical and extroverted.
