Rusty Shannon Tries to Live the Quiet Life

At the beginning of book four of the Texas Rangers series, Rusty Shannon has "retired" to live a quiet and peaceable life on the Texas plains with the disbanding of the Rangers. When they are reformed he is a sought after recruit. And when tragedy strikes he realizes he must go back in to the service. Elmer Kelton as done himself proud with this book about life in Reconstruction Texas which followed the Civil War. Good Book.

Ranger's Trail

Kelton is the best! This is another great one -- highly recommend!
