Highly enjoyable

Max Brand is still a major player in western fiction. Even though he passed away in 1944 during wartime, his prodigious output of fiction is stunning. Rancher's Legacy is the story of Flash Baldwin, the youngest of seven sons. Charged by his late father to avenge his death, he is framed for murder. With money on his head, and revenge still on his mind, he must tread a fine path to fulfill a final promise. Published in six parts in 1932, Rancher's legacy, is still a fine piece of fiction. The novel is packed with characterization and action in equal doses. Brand has been called the Shakespeare of the Range, but even that may be inaccurate. For me, I prefer to call him Mr Brand, a writer by any other name.
