As you know, ALL history is local. It is through local history that we can better place national and international events. Alden J. Blethen was a man born out of the American expereince of hard work, working harder when you have to, and making sure that your opinion is heard. Like the internet blogs of today, journalism in Blethen's day was loud, personal, at times unprofessional, and so many wonderful shades of yellow. For those interested in the history of Seattle, this is a must read. It is very well written. The research is top notch and the footnotes are great. The photographs and other matterial used in the book are great.
