Wayne Dumont is a high-priced environmental consultant that has been facilitating big development projects across the country and most recently on BC's North Coast. But when he arrives at Hashimoto Boat Works on the Fraser River, he is immediately confronted by his fast-talking corporate past. The highly controversial Roberts Bank container terminal expansion has just been approved and his PhD Thesis has been twisted to show that its environmental effects can be minimized. Someone used his findings to support the approval, setting off a volatile confrontation between developers and conservationists.

And Wayne is caught in the middle.

Vilified by environmentalists, and distrusted by developers, he must find a way to prove his intentions to the local community.

Complicating his efforts is Alice Hashimoto who runs the boatyard and is determined to see the shipping terminal expansion project fail. Wayne and Alice must find a way to trust each other to navigate the turmoil, but that isn't easy. Wayne's reputation as a high-flying consultant with a pro-development penchant for massaging the message follows him wherever he goes.
