I came accross this short novel quite by accident and brought it home to read with my two young children. We usually spend time reading before bed each evening. This book captured our attention from the first page. The colorful character descriptions made my children laugh, as they reminded us of members of our own family. The story line led us into family dicussions about what different outcomes may occur when family members get older, how relationships evolve, and how many people, including our children's friends and perhaps our own family, will have similar issues within their own families. This is a highly recommended book.

When you start to read this book, you wont be able to put it down, the book is sad but at the same time it is realistic and deals with an issue that many kids deal with at one point or another in their life. I really enjoyed this book and hope to someday share it with my kids!:)

This book Rainbows and Other Promises written by my very own aunt laurie swinwood was by far the best book I have read in a while. I am 15 and it takes alot for a kid like me to be interested to just sit down and read a book. This book on other hand made me put everything down to read.it was a very nice book for kids and adults. I would much rather be playing hockey or softball then reading anyday. When my aunt sent this book to me i read the first chapter because I felt that it was my aunt so I would read it. Then I really got into to it and I found myself reading it all the time. This book is recommended for everyone. It is easy reading for kids and also it is a good reading for adults...enjoy
