A rainbow is a geometric shape, made of two parallel lines, or "rays" that bend light. In a rainbow, the central part is bright, and the off-set parts are smaller. The number of off-set segments determines the color of the raindrops. The primary rainbow forms between 40 and 42 degrees from the antisolar point. A person who stands next to another person will see different raindrops. The sun's position determines how high the rainbow will appear.
