Dessa, a naive but nonetheless creative and intelligent young girl is allured by a tempting work offer (in the publishing industry) to move to the United States of America in hopes to make a better living for herself (and her ill mother). But Dessa soon realizes that the American work agency she was supposed to work for was in fact a...ghost company (or even worse - a human trafficking agency). Alone, lost, without a job and struggling to make ends meet, hungry and broke, Dessa finally manages to find a job as a cocktail waitress/exotic dancer at an upscale Chicago Gentlemen's Lounge. In her diary, the young girl strip things down by writing about her intense, depressing, exciting, illuminating and sometimes humorous experiences in the demonized sex industry. Love, eroticism, secrecy, betrayal, victory, madness -expect them all to be found in this book written in a simple, un-glamorized manner. This is the story of a simple girl who didn't know how to give up on love, nor the American dream. Unfortunately, one day she decides to kill herself. Or...does she?
