The book contains a compendium of cases of child abuse seen at Cook County Children's Hospital and the Office of the Medical Examiner of Cook County. The 72 cases presented in the atlas have been chosen not only because they demonstrate the common radiographic features seen in child abuse but also because they reveal common presentations and histories associated with abuse, including frequent explanations and excuses given by the victim's caretakers. They also point out identifiable major risk factors for child abuse.
