Dancing Toward the Light is Rachel Browne's story, from her days as a ballerina with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to her present status as a noted choreographer of spare, charged works of dance. In 1964 she founded Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers; when she was edged out of the company twenty years later, she emerged as a creator of poetic works, which address her feminist and socialist convictions. Teacher, mentor, creator, director, dancer, Rachel Browne is a remarkable force in Canadian dance.
