Rabies and associated risk factors in Lemikura Sub City

Rabies, caused by the rabies virus, is widespread in Ethiopia, with 59,000 - 60,000 human deaths annually. Limited vaccination coverage in urban areas and absence in rural communities are due to insufficient knowledge about rabies. We conducted a survey in Lemikura sub-city, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to assess community knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding rabies.The overall objective of this study was to support decision-making in the prevention and control of rabies in Ethiopia by providing evidence on knowledge, attitude and practice of respondents towards rabies and associated risk factors.
